I work on board, scratching into it before applying any paint. I like to build up texture and layers and use acrylics. The board is very forgiving so if a painting isn’t working I can scratch a new one, reworking the composition while leaving echoes of the original.

There is a life force in Cornwall which I try to reflect in my work. The granite bedrock seems to hold the essence of the land, solid and lasting. The huge boulders on the hills, seemingly unchanged but slowly weathered over countless years into natural sculptures, contrast dramatically with the ever changing powerful sea which surrounds us.
I am inspired by the way the environment and people affect each other and try to show the man made landscape meeting the natural world.
